QNX and HaleyTek expand collaboration on software-defined audio

EX60 infotainment

Together with our partner QNX, HaleyTek is expanding the collaboration to support a fully centralized Software-Defined Audio (SDA) architecture for Volvo Cars’ upcoming EX60. The work builds on QNX Sound and the OASIS VirtIO Sound open standard, and supports Volvo Cars’ Superset tech stack direction toward a scalable, future-ready platform.

Instead of relying on dedicated DSPs inside amplifiers, SDA moves more audio processing to the central system-on-chip (SoC). This helps enable faster software iteration and a stronger foundation for continuous improvements via over-the-air updates. For us, it’s another step toward premium, software-driven audio experiences that can scale across future programs.
